How to add a watermark to a photo

A watermark shows who took the photo and makes unauthorized reuse harder. Photographers sign their portfolios, sellers put a logo on product shots, and bloggers brand their screenshots.

The watermark can be text or your own logo. Place it in a corner, in the center, or repeat it as a tile across the whole frame. Every change shows up in the preview immediately.

Text or logo

Type a signature or upload a logo file. Position and opacity work the same for both.

Tile mode

The mark repeats across the whole photo, so it can't simply be cropped out.

Size in percent

The mark scales with the photo and looks the same on small and large images.

Your logo stays local

Both the photo and the logo file are processed in your browser tab.

Text mark or logo

Text is enough for a name, studio name or website address. You can pick the color and a font size from 2 to 15% of the photo. For a logo, a PNG with a transparent background works best: there's no white box around the mark.

Position: corner, center or tile

A corner mark barely gets in the way, but it's easy to crop off. The center is more visible. Tile mode protects best because the text covers the whole frame, though it's more noticeable.

Opacity

The slider sets opacity from 5% to 100%. Around 20–40% the mark is visible without hiding details. At 5% it's barely noticeable but still part of the file.

Lower the opacity with the slider. The minimum is 5%.
