When to convert an image to PNG
PNG keeps every pixel without loss and supports real transparency. It's what people ask for with logos, screenshots, diagrams and design mockups. Yet images often arrive in other formats: WebP saved from a browser, HEIC from an iPhone, AVIF or GIF. This page turns them into a file that opens anywhere.
The pixel dimensions stay the same, and the orientation stored by your phone is respected. You can convert several files together and get them as one ZIP.
Transparency is kept
Transparent areas from WebP, AVIF or GIF don't turn black or white.
No sideways photos
The rotation your camera wrote into the file is applied automatically.
Seven input formats
JPG, WebP, BMP, GIF, AVIF, HEIC and HEIF, up to 20 files at a time.
Work files stay offline
Conversion runs on your device, so mockups and screenshots are never sent anywhere.
How a lossless format differs from JPG
Lossless images shine where there is crisp text, sharp edges or a transparent background. Regular photos get heavier than in JPG or WebP because of smooth color gradients. If file size matters for email or a website, stay with JPG or WebP. Converting won't remove artifacts already present in a JPG. But from now on you can edit and re-save the file without further loss.
What happens to transparency
Transparent areas from WebP, AVIF and GIF carry over as they are. JPG and BMP have no transparency, so their background stays colored. Making it transparent takes a separate background removal step.
Limitations
Only the first frame of an animated GIF or WebP is kept. EXIF data and GPS coordinates are not copied. A converted HEIC photo can become very large. The limit is 30 MB per file. AVIF only opens if your browser supports it.
Frequently asked questions
Usually not, since lossless photos weigh more. To reduce the size, use compression instead.
No, the background color stays. Only background removal makes it transparent.
The conversion itself loses nothing, as the pixels are copied exactly. Any loss already in a JPG or WebP remains.
Only the first frame is saved as a still image.
