Cropping removes clutter from the edges and fits a photo to where it will be posted. A profile picture needs a square, Stories and Reels need a 9:16 vertical frame, and a video cover needs 16:9.
Drag the crop box with a mouse or a finger, or pull its corners. When a ratio is locked, the box keeps its shape even while you resize it from a corner.
1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 3:2, 2:3, 16:9, 9:16 or a free shape.
The original and selection sizes are shown next to the preview.
The box and its corners are easy to drag on a phone or tablet.
Cropping happens on your device. The image is never sent to a server.
1:1 suits avatars and square posts. 4:3 and 3:2 are classic photo frames, and 3:4 and 2:3 are their vertical versions. 16:9 fits covers and banners, 9:16 fits Stories. If none of these works, pick “Free”.
Drag the middle of the box to move the selection. Drag a corner to resize it while the opposite corner stays put. The box can't leave the photo.
Pixels inside the box are not changed. JPG and WebP are saved at 92% quality, and PNG is saved without lossy compression. Transparent areas turn white in JPG.
The crop box here is rectangular. For a round avatar with transparent corners, use the separate “Circle Crop Photo” tool.
Choose 1:1, move the box over the face and resize it from a corner. It stays square.
No, the tool works with one photo. After downloading the result, you can open the next one right away.
Usually yes, since fewer pixels remain. If you need a specific file size, use “Compress to a Size” after cropping.
