How to choose a portrait preset

Skin and eyes matter most in a portrait. A good portrait preset is careful with orange and red tones, so faces don't turn yellow, pink or plastic-looking. For everyday shots and social media, start with the soft or natural-light presets. They lift the shadows slightly and add warmth, and the person still looks like themselves.

Dramatic presets with deep shadows suit dark backgrounds, evening light and creative shots, while studio presets work for plain backdrops, business portraits and window light. You can reduce the strength of any preset with the slider: for portraits 50–70% is often enough for a noticeable but tasteful effect.

Frequently asked questions

Start with “Natural Skin” or “Clean Minimal”: they even out light and skin tone without obvious stylization. If the photo is dark, raise the effect strength to 120–150%.
