Convert WebM to MP4

Upload a WebM video — the format typically used for screen recordings, webcam captures and browser-based recording tools — and get an MP4 that any video editor, presentation app or older platform without WebM support can open.

Conversion runs on a processing server in a few seconds — nothing to install. WebM and MP4 use different video codecs, so the tool re-encodes the video to H.264, the most widely supported option.

WebM to MP4: screen recordings for slides and editors

WebM, built on the VP8/VP9 codecs, is a format made for the web. Browser screen recorders, webcams and screencast services save clips in it. The trouble starts when you need the recording in PowerPoint or Keynote, or in iMovie, an older Premiere or Vegas.

Those apps expect H.264 and simply don't recognize VP8/VP9. This WebM to MP4 converter re-encodes the video to H.264 and keeps the sound. After that, presentations, editors and platforms without WebM support accept the file.

Drops into presentations

PowerPoint and Keynote take MP4 with H.264 without extra codecs.

Ready for editing

Open the screen recording straight away in a classic video editor.

Long recordings up to 200 MB

A screencast several minutes long usually fits within that limit.

Audio track preserved

Only the video is re-encoded; voice and music stay.

Why WebM won't open outside the browser

Browsers handle WebM well because it was designed for the web. Desktop apps and older devices often know only H.264/MP4. To them VP8/VP9 is an unknown codec, so the file won't open.

Quality after re-encoding

VP8/VP9 and H.264 are fundamentally different codecs, so simple repackaging isn't possible. The video is fully re-encoded: it still looks good but isn't identical to the original.

Limits

For high-resolution screen recordings, keep the 200 MB limit in mind before you start. Free conversions per day are limited, and signing up gives you more.
